Please break what seems to be a media block on reporting the arguments against a bypass around Arundel.
There is a groundswell of opinion against the bypass.
The arguments against are well expressed by Arundel SCATE and environmental groups but they have not been published by the local press.
Local MP Nick Herbert, Arundel Town Council and some members of Arun District Council have forged ahead without consultation with those most affected by the Arundel Bypass, and on November 4 will present their final proposals about routes to be put forward to government at a stakeholders’ meeting.
They will propose that the original five options are reduced to two.
The two remaining options would destroy large swathes of ancient woodland and water meadows, demolish most of the village of Binsted and will devastate the eastern part of the village of Walberton.
We cannot continue to destroy our countryside to shave 10 minutes off our car journeys. This is insanity.
