Regarding the Arundel stretch of the A27, a bigger road will just attract more traffic and create more congestion and pollution and be a major bone of contention for years to come what with the proposals for stilts (noise and sight pollution) and the ruination of acres of precious woodland and wildlife habitat.
A new massive by-pass is NOT the answer.
We need to invest in better bus services to Brighton, Chichester etc, railways, cycling routes and walkways to create an integrated network.
Also danger spots and trouble congestion spots could easily be addressed with small improvements making for a more fluid result.
There is actually no congestion problem except during the peak times, and these problems can be solved. These solutions would be far cheaper and better.
The government , while seeking to address this problem for whatever reason, should listen to the local inhabitants of the area and they would discover that the above is a majority feeling among residents, many of whom find the government proposals anathema.
