I was disappointed to see the letter from A Wright concerning the Older People’s Council given the amount of work that many people have put in over the years.

The OPC maintains its own website www.olderpeoplescouncil.org with details of who we are and what we have been doing.

We have had public meetings at the Jubilee Library this year on housing, a key issue for older people, planning, to integrate older people’s needs into proposals and the urgent need for affordable housing and social care concerning the need for older people to be treated with dignity and respect.

In our experience, it is important to hold councillors to account about the needs of older people.

The Older People’s Council persuaded Brighton Council to apply to be an age-friendly city and we work for older people’s needs to be built into transport, housing and other areas. There is always more to be done and any suggestions are welcome.
