I would like to support Sir George Christie’s nomination for the Argus community Award, in view of his vision in providing an exceptional local venue.

This employs local people, draws in tourists from all parts of the world to this area and helps support local hotels, B&Bs, shops and businesses.

I’d also like to support it because of his vision and dedication in taking on the huge enterprise of creating the new opera house in 1994, with the added benefits to local builders, his unfailing commitment to maintaining a world-class venue even during difficult economic times.
