I again feel compelled to write following the recent article by Adam Trimingham (22 October) where he again criticises Peacehaven, calling it a "monstrosity."

This feels somewhat like Groundhog Day following a similar previous criticism in 2011.

I am very proud to represent Peacehaven, ideally situated between Brighton and Lewes, with lovely views of the Downs and the Sea. It has a thriving community and a number of facilities, including lovely local parks, a skatepark for younger people to enjoy, a busy civic centre and a successful local football team.

I recently hosted a tour of parliament for the Peacehaven Chamber of Commerce and was struck by the number of dynamic entrepreneurs in the town which is a real cause for celebration.

Whilst, like anywhere, Peacehaven could be further improved, to call the town a "monstrosity" is totally unjustified and I would call on Adam to publicly retract this statement.

My offer from 2011 to show Adam around Peacehaven to extoll the virtues of the town still stands if he is interested.

Simon Kirby, Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven
