Two weeks ago I suffered a partial tear of my Achilles playing badminton (I hate to think what a complete tear is like). I shall now be on crutches for at least three months.
Today I took my son for lunch at L'Eglise in Hove (which was excellent). I’m contacting The Argus to express my thanks to the two delightful ladies sitting next to us who clearly saw my predicament, saw the pouring rain, and then insisted that instead of ‘crutching’ my way home, they would drive me to my door – which they did.
This transformed my day in all respects.
The injury, which is horrible, has shown me two things. A tiny insight into the horrors and obstacles facing those permanently disabled and more joyfully the kindness of so many who are ready and willing to help those in need.
