I have read Adam Trimingham in The Argus for many years, agreeing and disagreeing, in equal measure with his opinions, but never before feeling the need to write in response.

I should say, now, I am old Labour, so I am not happy with the current Labour Party, but what cannot be passed over is the bias in the article, in which Adam sinks to the ‘gutter’ level of the Mail and Express.

Apart from the personal insults (‘geek’, ‘bacon butties’) there is the charge that Ed committed ‘fratricide’ against David. No, it was a democratic election. Ed won! What is wrong with that?

He is an unpopular opposition leader. All previous ones have been including Thatcher and Blair.

The Liberal Democrats are ‘gathering support’ – in what poll is that?

The Government has had to deal with the biggest deficit in history – no, the deficit facing the Labour Government in 1945 was far bigger (and they created the NHS).

Adam, do you want political debate to be about how someone speaks, their looks, and comments such as ‘loser’ or whether a party has the best policies for the UK.

Let’s discuss the attack on the poorest in this city: The fact that no banker has been called to legal account for the casino betting that they operated, and still do.

That workers in the private and public sector have seen the worth of their wages slashed since 2010.

That benefit tourism does not exist despite the popular myth.

You and The Argus have a good record for proper reporting but this article does you a disservice.
