I’m wondering if anyone else is having major problems contacting Brighton and Hove City Council’s council tax telephone number. Does anyone work there?

For nine days I have been ringing for a disabled neighbour of mine. After waiting 40 to 50 minutes each call we give up and try a hour later.

We get through to an automatic system, so I am paying for my call, but really – 50 minutes and still no one answers?

I’ve now resorted to sending in emails. Maybe they will get answered within the 48 hours they say, but anybody trying to telephone 01273 291291 just cannot get a reply no matter when they call.

Has anyone been able to get through to this number or have they given up like me? I would love to know.

Maybe The Argus could test the phone number out and see if they get a reply.

If the council is answering this number, then it is totally clear to me the council needs a lot more staff on the phones.
