On Sunday my husband and I decided to take a trip into Brighton for some shopping and this turned out to be a horror journey due to the roadworks, everywhere in the town.

Having left Uckfield at 11am we headed towards the railway station car park but came to an abrupt halt at the Vogue Gyratory on Lewes Road.

Having waited six turns of the traffic lights going red etc we eventually got through only to see closed road signs.

The alternative road was also closed so back on to the gyratory for more petrol burning.

We did manage to get to the seafront about half an hour later only to enter other roads that were also closed. There were no diversion signs and after three and a half hours of crawling in traffic decided to go home.

We will not be back until the roadworks are finished.

The alternative was to get a train but lo and behold rail replacement buses’ only. Good one Brighton and Hove City Council, get your act together. My Christmas shopping will be done in another town – that is more user friendly.
