As a local resident on Egremont Place, I can echo the sentiments expressed by the owner of The Verdict.

The work has already gone on for far too long.

The project has been badly managed and frequently days can go by when literally two workmen can be seen.

How can putting in a bus and cycle lane take a year?

There is also serious doubt as to the need/cost/benefit analysis behind this work.

Access for emergency vehicles has also been appalling.

When the Egremont Place junction work was underway, traffic was constantly backed up along the whole street.

In conjunction with changes made to the bus network, which now sees about a six fold increase in double decker buses on the road, the noise has become unbearable. The road is too narrow to safely accommodate passing buses.

We frequently have buses hitting trees and stopping to let other traffic move past.

So it's not just businesses that are feeling angry at the wanton waste of taxpayers’ money, driven to distraction by overbearing traffic engines parked because they can't move.

I am aware of several instances where people have felt the need to sell their property and move away.

I can honestly say that this Green council has created more discontent in this area than any local council works over the last 20 years.

And any time Caroline Lucas would like to discuss the merits of the council's refuse policy which has created a further blight to the local community, I would be happy to meet with her by our communal bins/fly tipping point, opposite my house.
