Worthing County Local Committee (CLC) is to be congratulated on sticking to the results of the consultation on the default 20mph speed limit.

At first the CLC was in favour and even donated £1,200 of tax-payers’ money to the 20’s Plenty campaign.

However, they did the honourable thing and took the correct democratic decision.

20’s Plenty have tried hard but were beaten by more than two to one votes.

At Wednesday’s meeting we listened to Duncan Kay and his cronies bleating that ‘it’s not fair’ for half an hour.

They should accept that the people of Worthing don’t want it or to hear any more of it in the future.

I am glad that Worthing residents realised the importance of voting. York had a consultation and over 90% of the votes were against it, but there was a low number of votes.

The council argued that there was no strong objection and went ahead with it regardless.
