No one doubts the skill and experience as a journalist that Adam Trimingham has.

But the experience he does not have is that of speaking to thousands of people across the city on their doorsteps and on the telephone week after week over the last few years about the issues that really concern them, (Argus, November 11).

That experience convinces us that what most people are interested in is not how Ed Miliband eats a sandwich but whether he and a future Labour government have the determination and the policies to deal with ensuring: l the future of the NHS l the scandal of low pay l the high cost of living l affordable housing l an education system that provides real opportunity for all l reversing government policies such as the bedroom tax that demonise the most vulnerable in our society l and dealing with the great environmental issues that affect us all.

As Labour Leader Ed Miliband has shown again and again that he has that determination – in standing up to the media bosses, the energy companies and the bankers. And in playing a major role in ensuring last year that this country did not become involved in a war in Syria.

He has spelled out Labour’s plans on the issues which residents tell us they want government to deal with.

Locally Labour has in us three accomplished parliamentary candidates with hands-on experience of working life outside of politics which they will bring to bear for the benefit of our city.

With Labour’s policy platform of fairness, Ed’s bold leadership, and local candidates who know how to get things done, Labour offers the only comprehensive solution to our city’s challenges.
