THE letter and picture in last month’s Argus of a Oleander hawk moth was of interest to me as 12 years ago I took a picture of a very large moth in my front garden in Hollingdean, Brighton. The moth is very similar to the one you showed. I would say it was the same size so it prompted me to send you the picture I took.
Maybe Lepidopterist Steven Teale could put me right on this. If it is the same species then it beats the last visit of this moth which I photographed in 2002. When the last one was here according to Steven was a long time before mine.
