I knew Andy Durr (Argus December 11) from both the Labour Party and through Brighton Polytechnic where I began my postgraduate studies.
Andy, pictured below, introduced me to much interesting local Labour and social history which he had pioneered.
I got much inspiration and encouragement from him and like to think I have continued in a similar fashion to Andy in this respect.
Andy had an ability to combine an intellectual awareness with a simple way of communicating.
His work on the seafront fishing quarter demonstrated a combination of the artistic with the traditional seafront which Andy correctly saw could happily co-exist.
He was also a stalwart Labour man through thick and thin and truly a great individual character.
