Following the recent two page spread in the Argus featuring Whitehawk FC and Howard Griggs’s kind observations (Argus sport, January 8) I would like to add my encouragement to the team and to all at the club who are responsible for providing what is undoubtedly a superb day out.
With the Hawks clearly destined for bigger things and even a name change to Brighton and Hove City FC suggested, I have no doubt that Brighton and Hove can sustain two major football clubs.
Having regularly attended home and away games, it’s great to see the crowds increasing and particularly young families coming on a regular basis.
The atmosphere at the ground is superb with some of the funniest and most entertaining songs I’ve ever heard at a match, often to musical accompaniment.
Highlights include the theme to Superman ringing out around the ground whenever Whitehawk score (quite a lot) and the mass jangling of keys to signify key moments such as a corner kick.
I would urge anyone to come along to a game. It’s great value, hassle free quality football and sooner or later I think we may even have Harvey’s beer in the bar.
Come on you Hawks!
