The councillor Ian Davey has emphasised that they have reduced parking charges in some car parks as well as increasing them in others.
The real reason for this is the increased charges are for the most lucrative and the reduction for the little used ones.
Pity they can’t reduce the charges for the pay and display side of Cleveland Road. Since it has become a controlled parking zone the average number of cars each day is 10 or about a quarter of the space available.
If it were cheaper more people would be able to use Blakers Park and I might get a few visitors. Unfortunately the Greens will say they need the money to fund the bus passes and “other transport projects” whatever they might be.
How can this council justify charging more than any other council outside London for parking then expect thousands of extra visitors to use the i360? Are they all coming on bicycles?
One more thing, thank goodness the Valley Gardens alterations have been put on hold, that would really put the nail in the coffin for Brighton.
Imagine a single lane from Coldean and Patcham to the Palace Pier. I would predict absolute gridlock.
