It would be a travesty to see the demise of the Preston Park Cycle Track after 138 years.
I have very fond memories of regularly going to meetings as a boy and cheering on the local teams like Brighton Mitre and Brighton Excelsior with crowds of 10,000 on some bank holiday meetings which even attracted my boyhood hero, the legendary Reg Harris.
We should be capitalising on our recent Olympic cycling success by encouraging youngsters to take up cycling.
You never know, it may produce the next Bradley Wiggins or Victoria Pendleton. I would urge everyone to support the petition and save this marvellous and historic resource.
