We hear grim stories of poor care and bad staff behaviour in nursing and care homes and it is with much pleasure that I attempt to redress the balance and relate a happier story.
My dear wife, aged 92, spent more than two years in Vallance Care Home in Hove where she was wonderfully cared for by loving and caring staff in a clean and comfortable, happy environment.
In November last year, my wife became seriously ill and was transferred to Royal Sussex County Hospital, where she spent several weeks in the care of devoted, highly professional nurses and carers.
The final ten days were in Lindridge Nursing Home in Hove, a new NHS facility, where the staff and conditions were just fabulous.
Her Majesty the Queen could not be nursed in better conditions.
To lose my dear wife after a very long and happy marriage is tough but it has been considerably eased by the excellent care given by all of these wonderful people and my sincere gratitude goes out to them all.
