I am sickened to read about this lovely cat (Argus, February 10).

Yet another story of mindless cruelty to innocent creatures.

Recently in Worthing a sweet little pet cat was kicked to death and a harmless timid sheep set alight.

What sort of monster derives pleasure from torturing and killing innocent animals and what more atrocities are these thugs capable of?

It has been shown for many years that murderers, including juveniles convicted, have demonstrated sadistic behaviour towards vulnerable creatures such as birds and domestic pets.

As for these wretched air rifles they should be banned and only available to gun clubs etc.

The ball bearing guns are also a danger to the general public as well as animals.

Some while ago a man narrowly avoided losing an eye when fired at by several youths, cowardly thugs who were never caught.

I know of 10-year-olds on a certain estate who were given those wretched guns. What is the point of it being illegal to carry knives when these psychos are allowed air rifles and ball bearing guns?

I trust poor Lilly will soon recover and find a safe, kind home though I doubt the mental damage will ever leave her. She will be a very nervous little cat.

Well done to Ron and the team at Lost Cats because without his intervention Lilly would be dead.
