It’s a real pity the general election is being fought locally with threats and fear-mongering about tactical voting outcomes, rather than the real issues we voters care about.

In Brighton Pavilion, we are being frightened by Labour into thinking that a Caroline Lucas victory would help the Tories.

Nothing could be further from the truth. With no chance of an outright majority for any party, the next government will be formed by whoever can command a majority of seats.

A Green Party victory would help, not hinder, a Labour-led Government.

In Lewes, Norman Baker’s Lib Dems have nothing to offer on the real issues and are trying to scare voters with their Labour can’t win flyers, no doubt recycled from the last general election.

Do they think those of us who voted Lib Dem to keep the Tories out have such a short memory?

It is time to vote with confidence and conscience for what we believe in, and not cynically against what we don’t, or what we fear.

The parties would do well to stop their scare-mongering and peddling mistruths, and speak to the real social and economic issues that matter to us.
