Who runs the council? This question has been asked in the letters pages of The Argus and now Geoffrey Theobald, Conservative leader, appears to have the answer.
When giving his view to The Argus on the Green Party administration (April 29) he was reported as saying that it will be remembered as one characterised by in-fighting, with a leader who never knew where support was coming from, and many decisions were left to be taken by unelected council officers.
If this was indeed the case then those who supported the Greens at the last election wasted their votes.
The people they put into power simply abrogated their responsibility and passed it to council officers, people who they certainly did not vote for.
Could it happen again? Who knows? But it is something voters, thinking of supporting the Green Party next Thursday should give serious thought to.
