Purna Sen claims that voters in Brighton Pavilion want a Labour MP once again (Letters, May 1).
That’s not what the pollsters and bookies are saying. They are giving Caroline Lucas a sizeable lead.
She has been an excellent MP and a powerful voice in Parliament.
I cannot imagine a better person to put pressure on Labour and the Conservatives on climate change, ending NHS privatisation, and on making housing affordable.
Caroline’s also one of those rare MPs prepared to say that spending cuts are wrong and stick up for the disabled, the elderly and the young people suffering under austerity.
Firstly, Brighton would be a poorer place if we were to lose our ground breaking Green MP.
Labour aren’t going to win enough seats to form the next Government without support from the smaller parties.
The Greens would back putting Ed Miliband into Number 10, not David Cameron.
That means anyone wondering whether they ought to vote tactically and back Labour, can instead vote for Caroline, safe in the knowledge that she’ll have far greater influence in the next Parliament than one more Labour MP.
It’s an exciting time to be a voter in Brighton. Caroline gives me hope. She talks about her ideas and gets things done, unlike the other parties who spend their time moaning.
She’s proven that not all politicians are the same. She is honest, independent and inspires others.
She’s always backed Brighton and we need to back her.
Will Parnell, Hanover, Brighton
