ONE can disagree with the Greens, but it is not necessary to be so nasty as to state “Kitcat and his Green cronies can go and recycle themselves in the nearest bin”, according Marina Clarke (Argus 12 May).

Even David Lepper wrote “Congratulations to everyone in Brighton who voted... to end the awful Green Party experiment with our wonderful city” (May 12).

As a result of the 20mph limits in many residential areas, brought in by the Greens, mean that any accidents in these areas are likely be less serious.

New cycle lanes will encourage more people to cycle safely and help to reduce the level of traffic.

I think that the decline in recycling rates, mentioned by David Lepper, is a result of inappropriate receptacles and fortnightly, instead of weekly, collections. Open boxes for recycling tend to turn many streets into slums.

How can the Greens be held responsible for fewer people now travelling by bus, mentioned by David Lepper? Could it be rising fares?

I do not approve of everything the Greens have done e.g. their plan for Valley Gardens, now thankfully to be re-examined, the Circus Street scheme for slums of the future, or the i360 based on over-optimistic visitor number figures, but making snide comments just leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and is not productive.
