As a nearby resident of the Dover Castle pub, I am writing to issue a noise-compliment.
Having recently moved to the area, I was greatly encouraged to hear the sound of live music bouncing down the street at the perfect hour of the evening around 9pm. I had recently returned home from work, and rather than sink in to my mood of decrepit sobriety, the music emenating from said venue prevented me from doing so.
Instead, I was enticed into the physical direction of the pub, and the mental direction of adventure, which was hitherto opposite to my prevailing mood.
Once inside the pub, I was accosted by welcoming people, had a perfectly satisfactory pint and enjoyed my surrounds.
It must be said that the sound in question was emanating from a well formed trio of males called Guru and I found myself thoroughly entertained by their live presence, and the free-flowing, psyche-rock infused journey through the sonisphere that ensued.
The music finished precisely at the time The Jam had ended, at a perfectly sociable hour for the first evening of the weekend.
Thereafter, I and my companion travelled home and enjoyed a peaceful night’s sleep.
I would thoroughly recommend not just this band, but the pub, and indeed the pastime of witnessing live performance, and I urge other venues, communities and people to encourage such enterprises.
I hearby implore yourselves, and others of like-mind, to issue similar notices of noise-compliments in opposition to any that think they can crush our indomintable freedoms of expression and appreciation.
