I WOULD understand if our police and crime commissioner doesn’t really want the police to arrest the beggars that frequent Brighton town centre, the Pavilion Grounds and Western Road.

It is wasting police time but how I see it, the police have plenty of time, that is if there are any that frequent the Brighton city centre.

Maybe we could give the beggars a uniform and recruit them as policemen.

At least we will see policemen in the town centre.

Listening to what the crime commissioner was saying, her thoughts appear to be with the beggars and not with the general public.

I am given to believe that once certain shops close the beggars erect tents in the doorways and Brighton becomes a type of "tent city" a bit like a certain place in France.

I wonder how our visitors view Brighton these days?

Not very well I guess.

The Royal Pavilion is the jewel in Brighton’s crown so why are these beggars and grubby drinkers allowed to frequent the Royal Pavilion grounds?

Surely, if th epolice don’t do anything else, they should clear them out of the grounds.

It is about time we stopped pussyfooting about and did something about moving these people away from the centre of Brighton.

Let the police start thinking about the general public – the people who pay their wages.

It appears they "arrested" a mere handful last year. That’s not good enough.

A few years ago that number would have been arrested in a single week.

We need a few of the old type magistrates back on the bench. People who have the city first in their minds.
