ON JUNE 23 the British people voted to leave the EU.

This decision was made by a majority of voters. Parliament has an obligation to respect this decision.

If politicians including Peter Kyle, Caroline Lucas and Keith Taylor did not receive the result they wanted they should still accept the majority outcome.

Likewise journalists including Polly Toynbee are calling for the Brexit vote to be ignored.

If our elected representatives simply ignore the democratic wishes of the nation they are playing a dangerous game.

The public do not like this comfortable establishment position.

It seems certain politicians believe that once elected they receive “divine” intellect and the right to tell people what is right.

This condescending “mummy knows best” attitude is offensive to a lot of people.

In the Soviet Union anyone who criticised the system was deemed insane and sent to asylums.

We live in a free society. A rational decision was made and should be invoked by parliament. If our elected representatives ignore the masses people will simply turn to more hardline groups.

Donald Trump and Marine Le Pen would never have enjoyed such popularity if governments listened to voters.
