THE Green MP sheds crocodile tears about the Donald Trump win in the US presidential election, yet it was her party allies who helped ensure his victory by taking sufficient votes from the Democrats.

The vote obtained by the so-called Greens in at least five states of the US was greater than the margin of victory for the Republican over the Democratic Party candidate.

Hillary Clinton actually gained more votes than Donald Trump nationally but the electoral college system meant that the Republican won.

In at least five states (including Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona and Wisconsin) the majority for Trump was small. Those states sent 85 electoral college votes for the Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Without the intervention of the Greens those states could easily have been won by the Democrats.

You would have thought that the Greens would have learnt from the experience of Nader, who stood in the 2000 presidential election and helped deny a victory for Al Gore (the Democrat) over George W Bush (the Republican).

Instead, the intervention of the Greens in 2016 has helped ensure the election of a right-wing Republican candidate who seems to have little concern for environmental policies.
