HOW many deaths will it take for people to wake up to the fact that horse racing in general causes death and injuries to horses every year?
The Cheltenham Festival is particularly lethal with seven horses killed during the three-day event this year, three of these on the first day.
Some horses die after the race from the effects of racing.
Throughout the year approximately 450 horses die on the track.
Animal Aid’s Racing Death Watch lists the day-by-day deaths on tracks across the UK.
Betting on these events isn’t just a “harmless flutter”.
It’s supporting an industry that exploits and uses horses as well as often ruining families’ lives through irresponsible gambling.
