WE were both so sorry to learn of the very sad death of Paul Whelch, a Brighton and Hove Albion supporter for so many years.

We first became friends with Paul during the Seagulls’ stay at Withdean Stadium where Paul would do absolutely anything to promote his team.

The early days at Withdean were not straightforward and Paul worked tirelessly behind the scenes to smooth the route.

He helped resolve the difficulties of on-street matchday parking and also organised regular clean-up sessions around the Withdean Stadium area after every home game until the Amex became a reality.

We know that although Paul may not be in his usual seat any more, he will continue to follow his team until it at last achieves the dream of playing in the Premiership.

Paul, thank you, you will be greatly missed by many but you are now soaring high along with your team, Brighton and Hove Albion.

Reach for the stars, you will always be remembered.
