BRIGHTON outdid itself this weekend as a city for having fun, making friends and celebrating life.

Dozens of people dressed as fish, crustaceans and pirates on Saturday afternoon to shimmy down the coastline for the second annual March of the Mermaids.

Earlier that morning the first Trans Pride parade filled St James Street to the sounds of the Rainbow Chorus – the only Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) choir in the South East outside of London.

And on Sunday the first annual Rainbow Run saw dozens of runners dressed in glitter and spandex tearing around Preston Park in aid of LGBT groups.

It’s a rare and excellent place where so many people do so much for so many – and have a good time to boot.
