With another day of bin strikes on the cards it is safe to say the people of Brighton and Hove are asking “when will it end?”

As union bosses and council officers remain at loggerheads and the rubbish still piling up on the city streets we are all hoping for the day when our bin collections can finally return to normal.

With the council remaining apologetic and union members saying they simply do not trust the management to honour their promises, it looks like that day is still very far away.

While both sides argue, the people suffering are the residents who are living with stinking piles of waste outside their homes.

Some homes have not had their rubbish collected in weeks with people in Portslade reporting that after today’s strike they will have suffered five weeks without a collection.

The image of Brighton as the Green city marred by waste is spreading and this needs to be stopped.

For the sake of the city we all hope this dispute can be brought to an end.
