Mental health nurses are already pretty deft at multi-tasking and staying cool in a crisis, and now they have also been trained to drive police cars.
Nurses in Eastbourne did their basic police driving test so they could whizz to help police in emergencies where people might benefit from their help.
It could be the shape of things to come, as authorities look at ways of improving the care of people with mental health problems involved in police incidents.
We commend the nurses for their apparent willingness to take on any task and get out into the streets to deliver help wherever it is needed.
We also hope the assessment of this trial is also made public so we can see the results and any possible concerns are fully discussed.
