THE row over a controversial decision to shake up hospital services in East Sussex is not going away.
The switch of some services from Eastbourne District General Hospital to the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards has sparked calls for a shuttle bus service to provide a link between the two sites.
However the issue over who needs to pay for the service is not clear – with both the hospital trust and the county council laying the ultimate responsibility at the other’s door.
The changes were made for safety reasons and to ensure services could be sustained for the long term but access for patients is an important factor.
A solution needs to be found soon to ensure the thousands of patients who use the hospitals are able to get there as quickly and easily as possible.
