SO IT comes down to the last game of the season – 90 minutes of blood, sweat and tears that could net Albion a minimum of £170 million and make every Seagulls supporter's dreams come true.

Few would have thought at the start of the season that Albion would find themselves in this position after last season’s disappointing show.

But they have been galvanised under the shrewd leadership of boss Chris Hughton, built on a fantastic unbeaten start to the season and shown character and belief when critics started doubting their stamina.

What is more remarkable for the club than the turnaround from last season is to think how far they have come since that fateful trip to Hereford less than 20 years ago when they were staring at the prospect of non-league oblivion.

It has been less than five years since the club had a proper football stadium they could call their own after the wilderness of Gillingham and the mend-and-make-do of the Withdean.

Since 2011, the club have had a stadium worthy of the Premier League and now we have a team too that is just one game away from proving the same. While we may come from humble beginnings, we would be no Premier League minnows.

With the club’s fantastic stadium, infrastructure, backing and our incredible fans, Albion have the potential to not just punch above our weight but to establish ourselves in the world’s richest leagues. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, for this will be a week for keeping feet on the ground and eyes on the prize.

Come what may on Saturday, the club will be roared on by a healthy travelling support on what could be the greatest day in the club’s history.
