Give a pet a home
The number of pets being dumped in fields, bins and car parks by their recession-hit owners is on the increase. In the past few days a litter of kittens was found in a cardboard box at the entrance to a field, a dog left choking and dodging traffic in a car park and a kitten found shivering among bin bags. Rescue centres are struggling to cope with the influx of abandoned animals. Today The Argus launches a campaign called ‘Give a pet a home’ to try to re-home as many creatures as possible. Charity bosses are backing our campaign. As part of Give A Pet A Home, we will bring you details of the hundreds of animals housed at shelters across Sussex, plus details of how you can take them home. We will be highlighting the work the shelters do and giving you the chance to get in touch and improve an animal’s life, as well as sharing tips on how to care for a pet, even on a limited budget.
