TODAY we have a selection of photographs of a restaurant that is no longer around and two shops based in Hove.

Richard and Kim Cusden can be seen above dining at Richard’s restaurant in 1986.

Richard’s was based at 102 - 105 Western Road, Hove, before it became the Hove Kitchen, and now Six.

Pam Haines and bar manager Barry Tyler are also pictured at Richard’s in the 1980s before it closed down.

Owner Richard Curd is back in business with a simple cafe in Church Street, Hove.

Richard’s restaurant moved in 2004 and eight years later, Richard’s Cafe was born.

The bright exterior gives way to an uncomplicated and elegant interior, which Mr Curd designed himself.

The counter offers various savoury bites with a fruit-cake made by the owner’s mother-in-law.

From the looks of the inventory – sandwich fillings, homemade quiches, salads and pasta dishes – it appears Richard’s Cafe has everything a customer could want.

Mr Curd has been hoping to repeat his previous successes by doing what he has always done.

If you know any more about the old establishment, its owners or who used to work there then please get in touch with The Argus.
