Cricket round-up: Marathon stint rewarded

Alan Parris bowled a marathon stint to help Ringmer II to their first win of the season in East Sussex League division three.

Tom Freyburg (58) and Reg Goldsmith (54) led Ringmer to 247-7 and that proved enough as Blackboys were dismissed for 214 in reply despite 79 from Andy Meed which included 14 fours.

Parris bowled unchanged for 19 overs to take 5-78 while Jonathan Holmes claimed 3-80.

In division four, Andrew Jenks carried his bat for 150 not out and Stacey Turner scored an unbeaten 101 as Laughton amassed 278-1 away to Little Common Ramblers, who made 231-7 in reply with Ricki Horne hitting 50 not out at No. 9.

Peter Hayes led the way with 107 as Glynde III set 304-5 at home to Buxted Park III in division five. Leigh Reed (40), Tim Stirmey (39), Kevin Williams (37), George Hobden (27 not out) and Phil Harper (24 not out) also chipped in. In reply, Buxted were dismissed for 187 with Dougie Saunders scoring 56 and Rory Chalmers 46 as wickets fell to Hobden (5-24) and Williams (3-32).

Rottingdean II went top after beating Rye by seven wickets. Steve Johnson (3-18) and Sam Shepherd (3-22) combined to dismiss Rye for 107, then Rob McGrath (50 not out) led the victory charge.

In division six, Rob Bextor (40), Eddie Thomas (32) and Callum Skinner (32) helped Barcombe II reach 196 all out but hosts Robertsbridge II passed that to win by five wickets.

Matt Atkins (58) and opener Greg Tyrell (42) guided Denton to 242-9 at home to Iden II in division eight. Rob Cloute hit 63 as the visitors were bowled out for 162.

Division eight leaders Newhaven II won by seven wickets against Seaford III, who were restricted to 160-8. James Tullett (57 not out) and Matt Tullett (53 not out) saw Newhaven home after Jamie Pittam (3-32) had performed well with the ball.

Baba Saracouli (3-37) was the pick of the bowlers as Polegate and Stone Cross II restricted Tunbridge Wells Borderers II to 212-7 (Trevor Vousden 50, David Green 42). Opener Clive Harris hit 58 in reply but Polegate fell short on 181-5.

In division nine, Joe Warren took 6-37 as Lewes Priory III dismissed Rottingdean III for 174 (John Arter 49). James Beattie then led Priory to a six-wicket win with a knock of 92 despite the efforts of Hassan Khan (3-26).

Kris Radmall led the way with 108 not out and Rob Iliffe added 60 as Hadlow Down and Moulsecoomb Wanderers posted 214-3. In reply, Burwash Weald tumbled to 75 all out as Daniel Sherwin, Iliffe and Rory McFadden claimed three wickets apiece.

Junior Andy Cramp (3-11) claimed his first hat-trick and Gary Capon picked up 5-27 as Glynde IV dismissed Uckfield III for 94 in division ten. Ben Bignall (29 not out) saw Glynde to a four-wicket win.

Carl Evans (55) and Ben Forward (53 not out) helped Crowhurst Park III set 258-7 in the face of good bowling from Freddie Wade (4-45). Ringmer III made 167-6 in reply with David Grimes carrying his bat for 61 not out.

In division 11, Darryl Curcher took career-best figures of 6-52 as Mayfield II bowled out Sidley III for 152 to set up a six-wicket win. Stuart Sutton (32), Brian Stilwell (30), Ed d’Aguilar (27) and Ben Church (23 not out) led the reply.

In division 12, colts bowlers Charlie Beadell (4-35) and Louis Ramsey (3-31) helped Newick III restrict Pevensey II to 191-7. Howard Ramsey hit 67 in reply, gaining support from Beadell (36 not out), Louis Ramsey (23) and Will Hutchinson (22) as Newick closed for a draw on 178-7.

In a friendly, Allan Trower (50), Jon Petch (48) and Brian Wheatley (45) led Barcombe to 197 all out but Rotherfield passed that to win by five wickets despite the best efforts of Trower (3-28).
