Barker praises matchwinner Clarke

Crawley boss Richie Barker praised Billy Clarke after he scored both goals in the 2-0 home win over MK Dons.

Clarke struck in the 21st minute and 90th minute in what was his first start in the league for ten games.

Barker said: "Billy has been chomping at the bit for a while. I asked him to do a little different job and he did it and topped it off with two goals.

"If I was him I would be a little bit disappointed (goalkeeper) Paul Jones was named man of the match."

Barker changed his formation to 4-1-4-1 to counter MK Dons' 4-2-3-1 set-up and was pleased with the way it worked.

He added: "We said we were going to try to press them and stop them playing out from the back. We knew they didn't have much physical presence up front so we wanted to make them hit it long.

"People may argue we shouldn't change our tactics at home to counter the opposition but we won the game so I think it is justified."

A really exciting evening unfolded at the Broadfield as MK Dons came to play decent football. They are a polished outfit and passed the ball with speed and acuracy. BUT, the Reds defence held firm with Kyle M keeping everything tight. They hit the bar twice in two mins at one nil so we did get another huge slice of luck.
Billy popped up with two match winning moments sending the Broadfield into raptures.

Alan Williams (Chief Executive) has said in the past that CTFC are in the entertainments business. Well, fans were well and trully entertained last night !

Just a shame there werent more of us inside to take advantage !

Lets hope the Reds can continue this cracking form when ldham com to visit on Saturday.

An entertaining game missed by all the stay at homes watching "ducking and diving" (mainly diving?)football on TV.
Your picture of McFadzean in the wars doesnt mention it was a horror tackle which could have broken his leg, which the referee saw as no more than a yellow the same as a booking for one of our players for holding the ball for approx. 2 seconds!!!
