Palace seek talks with Coppell

Steve Coppell has been working on a non-contract basis at Crawley since April Steve Coppell has been working on a non-contract basis at Crawley since April

Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parrish has confirmed he will talk with Crawley director of football Steve Coppell about a possible role at the Championship club. Palace are looking for a new manager following the departure of Dougie Freedman to Bolton Wanderers this week. Coppell was instantly installed as favourite for the job having managed the Eagles four times in the past. The 57-year-old does not have a contract at Crawley and while the League One club have said they hope he stays they admit it is Coppell's decision. Parrish said: "Steve works for Crawley and we need to respect that but I am sure we will be having a conversation with him at the very least. "I think the situation has got to be right for Steve and he would have to want to do it. I will definitely be speaking to Steve but whether it is as manager I don't know."

Steve Parish is a Palace fan first and owner 2nd, Coppell has red and blue blood in his veins and knows the Palace ethos! Ideal interim appointment to keep the Eagles on course.

Steve Hollis wrote an eloquantly worded piece in TALK BACK today which gave a brilliant insight to the work that Coppell brings to the Broadfield club. If he were to leave and I hope he dosent he would be sorely missed by club and fans.
