Dobbie stays calm in wait for a goal
1:00pm Saturday 27th October 2012 in Sport By Brian Owen
Stephen Dobbie would love a goal today
Stephen Dobbie insists he does not feel under pressure to score his first Albion goal.
But the former Blackpool star concedes it would be “ironic” if he got off the mark at Bloomfield Road today.
Dobbie has not netted since helping the Tangerines beat Birmingham in last season’s play-offs.
The Glaswegian has yet to make a major impact with the Seagulls since choosing them ahead of a return to Blackpool in August.
He said: “The longer it goes, especially at a new club, a striker always wants to get his first goal.
“But I have been through that before so I’ve not got to think about that too much.
“I think the whole team just want to get the goals and get a win.”
Dobbie expects to be booed by Blackpool fans but said: “I’m sure deep down they will be happy to see me doing well.”
Asked if he fancied his chances of scoring against his old club, he added: “That would be ironic but it’s not about me getting my first goal.
“It is about the team trying to stay in that play-off area.
“If any team is still there around about Christmas they can go on a run in the second part of the season.”

I'm surprised though as he has a three year contract, some players just don't settle at clubs for whatever reason. I too, hope he proves me wrong as I think he is a real player.
I never thought I'd say it but Argus articles have become like the legendary red buses; nothing for days (worthy of comment at least) and then not 3 but 4 arrive at once (well almost). It's no surprise that SD is staying calm - he seems to specialise in that. No need to burst a blood vessel if it is avoidable, leave chasing back for someone else, avoid commitment - it can possibly lead to injury... C'mon Mr Dobbie, prove me wrong, show me you actually warrant a place in the squad. I'll look forward to eating my words and publicly apologise, on this thread at least. Fingers crossed - I'm working on my humble pie text even as I type - along with another to cover other eventualities, just in case.

7Rookie---but how long do we have to wait?? Not a very good return on our investment at present---needs to step up to the mark very soon--as does the rest of the team. Lets hope this afternoon is the turning point for Albion UTA
