Poyet wants change to loan system (From The Argus)

I do admire Gus's honesty, but he is starting to p**s off a lot of other clubs/managers/playe
rs and fans.

In regards to loan players, I think we should take a gamble on Peterborough's Barnett. He is availiable and to get on loan maybe worth the gamble. He has not been great for PU, however when he came down to ours he must have won everything in the air!! He made Greer & Dunk look like school boys in the air. PU were a poor team I know, but someone like TB could be something that we need....

Ahhh I get it... the solution is just to move the problem to league 1 who would be in the same position being promoted to the championship!!! Needs a little more thought me thinks!!!

Sorry Gus, before you claim other teams have spent a lot you need to thing about how much you've spent in the last years because its probably topping the best part of 10 million quid.

Gus does like a moan up - rightly or wrongly.

People like Gus are rare imo,he says what he wants,to who ever he wants,about whatever is on his mind,if Ian Holloway says something critical he is a west country character and we very often agree and laugh,but because Gus is more serious it is considered by some as interfering or upsetting the status quo.I personally believe that we are the best footballing side in the championship by a distance,and when we go up,whenever that is,we will stay there,and it will be down to Mr Bloom and one of the best managers our great club is ever likely to see.In other words if you have been there seen it and done it at the level that he has,he has the right to say what the heck he likes. As for us landing TB,cant see it myself after what Gus said above,but why not,source for the goose!!. UTA

Reading what Gus has to say I guess you could take it one step further and do away with the loan system all together.

Players go out on loan because their clubs want them to get more experience, more playing time so why not expand and improve the reserve league. Why shouldn't there be two fixture lists, A team and B team. Why shouldn't the reserve team have promotion and relegation too, I would have this for Div 1, Championship and Premier divisions.

Some work has already been done to improve the status of reserve matches but more could be done. If loan deals became a, one year sale with an option for the club to buy back for the same price loans would end. What is paid by clubs now as wages would be the sale price.
If we are paying 500k as wages for Bridge then that would be the sale price and the money could still be paid over the year. I would have it so that the 500k is then paid back at the end of the year so in effect Bridge would cost Brighton nothing and if the money wasn't paid back then Bridge become a Brighton player outright.

If this were to happen clubs would be more inclined to keep players at home and play them in the improved reserve matches, matches with a real value. By doing this it would mean that a home game would happen every week at the Amex and all clubs in the three divisions. More revenue would allow for more, 'proper tranfers,' and zero loan deals.

Loan window is still open so ( if we want promotion) let's have a centre forward then! If not................

I keep hearing that Barnett is available but can't work out why. I know that P'boro recently fined and t-listed four players but I didn't think he was one. Am I wrong?

In any case, he's not really the player we need to progress. He'd do a job, and yes he's great in the air, but he's not top of the Championship class in terms of his all round game and that's what we should be looking at as we look to continue with our progression to the top flight (eventually)

How do you know that he is p***ing alot of people off? Just because you are getting p***ed off doesn't mean that others are, I'm sorry but this forum does not speak well for the fans it is only a small number who comment here. A manager who speaks his mind is a good thing in all regards. And for loaning in T Barnett from P'boro....I don't think Gus would consider loaning in a player who has been listed due to a disciplinary action, that is just poor business, but you never know.

How can Gus complain about Huddersfield having Beckford and Church on loan when we have Bridge and Hammond on loan until the end of the. And if I remember rightly we brought in no less than 5 players on loan in January (though for one reason and another none of them did very much for us). Come on Gus, at least be consistent.

As a player I take my hat of to Mr Poyet brilliant,as a manager ok,but as a talker (unless words are being put in his mouth)a big no no.Other teams can sign a striker some two in one go,He cannot get one so the rules have to change.We get SMOKING gun Bridge 90000 pounds a week,we only pay 10000 ? a week a cannot let sparrow out on lone the lad gets first team football and we get some respect.Is Gus starting to feel presure ore is he starting to lose it.The Vincente saga has gone on long enough let him go,lets get behind the lads who want to give their all,we are an average championship team that can play good football and be entertaining lets just stay that way championship is good enough this is 2012,footbal died with the Bosman ruling and unless some arabian multi multi millionare comes allong NO WAY;

Including James Vaughan, that's three strikers that Huddersfield have on loan. Probably just a little better than our two last season, Paynter and Vokes! Up to £8000,000 from Blackburn for Rhodes so I think that puts Huddersfield in pretty good shape.
That said, I'm expecting us to get something from tomorrows match. I'm inclined to agree with tug509 that we are the best footballing side in the championship - certainly close to it. I also expect the manager to land an appropriate striker and I do not think it will be Barnett.

How do you know that he is p***ing alot of people off? I don't know how you borrow a decent striker, it just seems to fly in the face of common sense.

If a player is good enough to come to Brighton on loan as a striker then why is his club letting him go, do they not want/need his goals. The only way I can see it being possible is if the striker is near the end of his career and is stepping down from the prem.

Young strikers go out on loan, I get that but why would we borrow a young striker, we have them in our own ranks.

At the begining of the season maybe a deal could be done but now, nope I don't get it.

Gus and every other manager will say alot of things that we never hear, the media only put out select bits. My point here is that so what if he does annoy you, or other people......Warnock is always moaning, Sir Alex (biggest knob in football at times) Zaha...flash in the pan at the moment, talented no doubt but not made it, he was only sticking up for Buckley....opinions opinions opinions....mine, yours, his, they don't matter really.

Don't think he was moaning he gave his own opinion on the loan market and what he would like to see put in place i don't think it was loans in general it was more that the loan window should be the same as the permanent market and have the same time constraints.The full interview is on the i.player, i always find his press conferences entertaining but a lot of his one liners are repeated as Argus headlines for days after and usually are taken out of context.Any way got a good feeling about tomorrow hopefully the rollocking will work. I agree that Gus like marmite, just happens to be that I like marmite.

He actually speaks a lot of sense in live interviews on the iplayer, and the Argus takes ithem out of context up for the for the Argus idiots to feed on.

A very valid point Vegus how many times have you heard managers moaning about their respective reserve sides don't get enough playtime, pitches now are far more resilient and that goes all the way down we don't need a loan system for just that however we have used this system in the past to good effect, I do think there should be a shorter period for loans more inline with the transfer window itself with an FA review board to look at situations where teams had injuries but short time only.

I am totally opposed to short term loans as I feel that they can mess up results. If Brighton lose a player through injury we bring in one of our squad, if a club chooses not to invest in squad players why should they be allowed to benefit from a short term loan.

Borrow three players for a month or two and you negate the need to buy a player thus saving a club possibly a six figure sum.Those doing the borrowing might get points they might not have had they had to use three of their own reserves, reserves that the borrowing suggests are not up to it.
