Gus Poyet hailed the belief of his Albion players after they won 2-1 at Huddersfield today.

The Seagulls survived a few nervy moments before securing a richly deserved victory on the back of Will Buckley’s first-half goals.

Poyet said: “It is incredible how a victory can change the way people are going to talk now.

“Until the other day we had one win in nine.

“Now people are going to say we are unbeaten in five. That means we are winning games.

“The best thing is the attitude, the concentration and the belief of the players after the results we have had to come here and keep playing.

“To keep performing, to keep playing our way, to be calm, to dominate the game as much as we could until we were up 2-0.

“Then, of course, it is going to be difficult. They are not going to give it you.

“But when it is a battle you need to battle and the players did that.”

Poyet revealed Tomasz Kuszczak had a finger infection ahead of the game and second choice Casper Ankergren was injured in training on Thursday.

That meant a late call for Peter Brezovan.

He said of Kuszczak's injury: “We thought that in the last 24 hours it would settle down and be ready to go. But it didn’t.”

Poyet also praised the “terrific” Marcos Painter, who stood in for the injured Wayne Bridge.
