Albion avoided goalkeeper crisis

The Argus: Peter Brezovan in action at Huddersfield Peter Brezovan in action at Huddersfield

ALBION saved themselves from a goalkeeping crisis – by refusing to let Peter Brezovan out on loan.

Clubs were interested in borrowing the giant Slovak before he jumped from third to first choice in Albion’s 2-1 victory at Huddersfield.

Brezovan was promoted to the bench for the trip to Yorkshire after Casper Ankergren hurt a thumb in training. He ended up between the posts at short notice when regular No. 1 Tomasz Kuszczak pulled out during the warm-up with a finger infection sustained on international duty with Poland last week.

Boss Gus Poyet revealed to The Argus: “I am not going to say the teams but there were three or four interested in Peter.

“But, with that scary situation where you cannot recall him and we have got only two goalkeepers, we were not willing to let him go. Now it’s simple, he is going nowhere!”

Other fringe players could leave on loan before Thursday’s deadline. Championship rivals Barnsley have showed interest in midfielder Ryan Harley and striker Will Hoskins, although the latter is back in the first team picture and came on at Huddersfield in the second half.

Scunthorpe have already failed with a cut-price loan bid to take Matt Sparrow back to Glanford Park. Poyet said: “There are going to be some calls and some movement. It will depend on the players as well and what they want to do because we try to respect their careers.”

Now Hoskins seems to be back in the fold, I'm sure Gus will keep him as a key member of the first team squad, not loan him out. Sorry Barnsley...

Please don't prove me wrong, Gus!

Really hope we don't send Hoskins out on loan, we have three very different types of strikers now and I think we'll need them all to keep levels of performance up.

Ever been a keeper? I'm guessing you're going to say "yes" in any case, but the powerful shot straight at you is never "easy" to keep a hold of. Better keepers than Brez have difficulty too.

If Barnsley want to borrow a striker form us they should turn thier attention to George Barker as I think they would have more chance of getting a yes.
It would be good to see how he would do given first team football, something he is not going to get this year in our team.
The lad is scoring on a regular basis for the development squad and Gus must be keeping a close eye on him. This is a loan deal I think Gus would like to do but I can't see him letting Hoskins go out on loan.

Wikipedia is a user edited site. Just go in, register if you need to, and change it back – they have help pages that describe how to revert a page. There’s also a process for blocking users. The more outraged you are, the more satisfied you’ll make the poster. It's like feeding the trolls. I just don’t think it warrants police intervention. They probably have more important things to focus on in Croydon.

Good posts.
Since Barnes is not really used as an out and out striker Hosko is really the only first team squad alternative to CMS. Actually I am still waiting and would quite like to see Hosko and CMS playing together.
The only possible scenario I can envisage where Hosko goes out on a short term loan would be if Poyet brought in the Target man striker he has said in the past he (Poyet) wants. Even then I would still prefer that Hoskins does not get loaned out.

The MLS season came to an end for the Seattle Sounders yesterday when they were put out of the MLS Cup by LA Galaxy over two legs.Galaxy will now play Houston in the final in two weeks time.

Seattle have a player that I have been banging on about for weeks and weeks and now they are out of the cup I am banging on about him again.

Eddie Johnson should come to us on loan NOW. The guy might not want to but we should at least ask about him,
Check him out, check out how many goals he has scored this season with his head. The guy is strong, quick and can hold up play and he clearly knows where the goal is.

Apart from that Brezovan was awful at huddersfield doubt well see him again is casper and kuszcak are fit. I cant see how a youth team keeper would have done worse i think the ironic cheers when he finally caught one summed it up perfectly

Brezovan is now the third choice keeper who will rarely get a look in, so I think a bit of perspective needs to be maintained. He was better than an outfield player between the sticks. And, to be fair, he has also pulled of some great/important saves during his time with us.

When he came into the team last season to replace Casper, who was having a bad time, he made a good contribution and was worth his place at the time. Obviously not in the same class as TK,and never more than second choice. However, I prefer him to Casper, but it's a matter of opinion I guess.

When did Brez last play a competitive match, he came in from the cold and was expected by some on here, to perform as though he had never been out of the side. Keepers just as out field players need match time to sharpen up.

Did you see the game ? Brezovan is an embarrassment in goal at times. Really !
Brez only caught the ball once in the whole game the goal conceded was a schoolboy error. Hoskins will prove to be an important member of our team.

I'm guessing you're going to say "yes" in any case, but the powerful shot straight at you is never "easy" to keep a hold of. Better keepers than Brez have difficulty too.[/p][/quote]Did you see the game ? Brezovan is an embarrassment in goal at times. Please say you didnt actually inform the police haha! People like you are the reason we are losing the banter in football.

If youre insulted dont look at the page again dont waste police time. If it was something against Palace im sure youd have a cheeky little chuckle at it.

Apart from that Brezovan was awful at huddersfield doubt well see him again is casper and kuszcak are fit. I cant see how a youth team keeper would have done worse i think the ironic cheers when he finally caught one summed it up perfectly
Such a good post my friend, spot on.Brezovan should not even be playing league football. His the kind of Freeloader that makes me hate footballers. His only on the payroll because his such good friends with Gus.Lets all hope Tomasz it back asap.
I dont condone calling the police on anything (short of a life or death situation of course) but until Twistlock pointed it out to me,i thought you had to go through them to have it removed.

Sorry Freeloaders i can take any amount of banter, but insulting our badge, and doing it on a site that can be viewed anywhere in the world,is lower than a snakes belly.UTA

To be fair to Brez , he may have lost concentration, mainly due to lack of action or confidence,, remember the lad Poke, good keeper who was destroyed when he know Gus thought he was not up to it, we all know confidence is such a big thing for strikers, it's bigger for keepers.
However I can't wait to see Kushak back in goal!

As much as casper doesnt inspire confidence i rate him slightly higher than brez although i say slightly !! That said the back 4 looked solid which is a good sign with 2 injuries.

Bridcutt had his best game for us as well wanted the ball and put himself about ! If only he could want the ball like that every game hed be a top player!
