Hastings United’s remarkable FA Cup run will earn the club more than £110,000 if they win their second round replay at home to Harrogate Town.

The match has now been moved to Thursday December 13 to accommodate live television coverage on ESPN.

United have already banked £45,500 in winnings by reaching the second round and will earn another £27,000 if they can beat Harrogate at the second time of asking after a 1-1 draw in Yorkshire on Saturday.

That match was among featured highlights on ITV, which was worth £6,300 to each club, while the ESPN live coverage fee is £34,100 to both teams.

It means Hastings already have a guaranteed £85,900 from winnings and television coverage which would rise to £112,900 if they win the replay to set up a third round clash away to Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

That pot of gold for the club does not take into account gate money from their seven FA Cup games so far.

Chairman Dave Walters said: “It is hard to take in. We were virtually broke at the end of last season so the timing is quite good.

“What it will do is give us a fair bit of breathing space. It is not enough to make real structural changes but there will be some things we can do like a new players' tunnel which at the moment has more rust than point on it. That in itself is £8-10,000 which is a lot for a club like us.

“It is not transformational but it will allow us to improve the infrastructure.”
