Albion must break down the joint meanest defence in the Championship – on current form – if they are to get their fans cheering again.

The Seagulls go to Charlton on Saturday looking to put derby defeat at nearby Crystal Palace behind them.

Charlton have conceded just one goal in the last five games, and that from a penalty.

Only Millwall, with whom they drew 0-0 last Saturday, can match that record.

Goakeeper Ben Hamer said: “Brighton are a good passing side and their stats show they are good away from home.” Albion will be backed by about 3,000 travelling supporters and winger Will Buckley said: “Hopefully the fans stick by us.

“That’s what we need to do now. We need to win on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Albion have been drawn away to either Lancing or Oakwood in the last 16 of the Sussex Senior Cup. The tie will take place at the end of January.
