Jonte Smith has made the matchday squad for the first time as Crawley take on Stevenage at Broadhall Way.

The 18-year-old striker is among the substitutes after returning from a goal-laden loan spell at Met Police earlier in the week.

Smith only earned a professional contract in the summer after scoring 25 times for the youth team and reserves last season but did make a handful of appearances for the first team in pre-season.

Boss Richie Barker has resisted the temptation of handing him a first start, instead opting to stick with skipper Gary Alexander as the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation.

As well as the tactical change Barker makes two alterations in personel to the side which drew 2-2 against Shrewsbury Town last weekend.

Dannie Bulman and Mike Jones come into midfield with Sergio Torres and Nicky Ajose dropping to the bench.

Stevenage also make two changes from the team which won 2-0 at Hartlepool last weekend. Anthony Grant and Luke Freeman drop out with Lee Hills and Robin Shroot coming in.

Stevenage (4-4-1-1): Arnold; Gray, Roberts, N'Gala, Comminges; Hills, Tansey, Dunne, Akins; Shroot; Haber. Subs: Horlock, Charles, Freeman, Ball, Rogers, Agyemang, Risser.

Crawley (4-5-1): P Jones; Hunt, Davis, Connolly, Sadler; Adams, Bulman, Akpan, Simpson, M Jones; Alexander. Subs: Kuipers, Walsh, Clifford, Ajose, Akinde, Smith, Torres.
