ALBION will have to pay around £2 million if they want to re-sign Chris Wood in January.

That is the reported asking price of Wood’s parent club West Brom for the prolific young Kiwi.

Wood has scored 11 goals in 19 games on loan to Millwall, the latest in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat by Barnsley, following his double against Albion at The Amex last week.

The Seagulls face competition from Millwall, Leicester and Huddersfield if they decide to pursue Wood after his loan stint in the League One title campaign two seasons ago.

West Brom are expected to cash in on Wood at some stage in January but boss Steve Clarke is holding fire on his future for now.

Clarke said: “I’ve still got games to play before we get to January and the possibility of picking up injuries and suspensions. Chris is one of our players who is out on loan at the moment and doing fantastically well.

"He’s got a lot of clubs interested in him but at the moment he’s still an Albion player and if I need him to come back here next month and help us that’s what we’ll do. There is no guarantee of anything at this moment because the most important thing for me is West Bromwich Albion and I have to do whatss right for them.

"As and when a decision has to be made it will be made in our best interests."
