My oh my, what a difference a few days make. I have just listened to Gus on Radio Sussex. He's purring like a Cheshire cat and is head over heels with praise for his players. Obviously they did what he asked and gave him more. Roll on Saturday and progress to the next round. 2012 is over, we've started 2013 with a bang. Let's have more positive posts on here from now on. Too much negativety is getting me down. Happy New Year one and all, even the WUM's.

Just on way back from the game. Four attempts on target but two were well struck along the ground in the corner of the goal - what a difference that makes. Bridge looked so confident before his strike - only one thing on his mind and he was never going to miss. More of the same and we''ll be going up the table faster than you can say play-offs!

Nothing wrong with our away results we are showing promotion form. A few more goals at home and we will be there.

It was mentioned on skysports a couple of weeks ago too.

I'm not thinking about Newcastle.
The next one that matters is home to Derby on the 12th and it's crucial the run of bad home form is ended.
The Derby match is a massive encounter because they are also on 37 points. It's a virtual 6 pointer.

I still like Kenny Cooper from New York Red Bulls as a striker for us.

I cant wait for next Saturday. The FA Cup is special and gives us an opportunity to play a top class side in front of the world. If next week doesn't inspire the starting eleven, then I cant think of anything else that will. Bring on The Toon !! Can you imagine the effect it will have on the team's confidence if we beat them not to mention the financial benefits.

Just been looking at the Stats B-Hove.
As you correctly state we had 4 shots on target (out of a total of 6). This is less than we had against Watford and quite a lot less than most matches this season.
It just goes to show what a strange game Football can be. It also makes me wonder if we are dominating matches too much. I appreciate this is a strange thing to say but having too much of the ball might be one of the reasons we aren't scoring the number of goals the chances we create warrant. It's a bit like the Ali v Foreman fight and Ali's tactics of letting Foreman punch himself out by letting the 'Ropes' take the force of Foreman's punches. Teams are simply packing their defences, especially at the Amex, and letting us attack until we become frustrated and then bingo we make one small mistake and they score.
So perhaps a little less possession football and a bit more counter attacking as with (apparently) our third goal today might be the order of the day. Of course having a striker with physical presence and aerial ability might help to break down the 'massed defences'.

Something I am not understanding about the issue witht he argentine target's paper work problem.

The guy is playing in Spain, so he got papers to allow that.
Other argentines have played in england and some still are, no paper work probs for them.
We looked at him some time ago and we knew of paper work problem back then.

Why is this still a problem, and why is it aproblem?

The only answer I can come up with is that there must be something in his back ground that the british authorities don't like. I am sure I am wrong in my thinking, but what else could it be.
If players from all over the world can come and play in england, then why can't this one, it doesn't add up.

Any thoughts anyone?

great first half, second half they looked like they were saving themselves.. bridcutt awsome, elhab awsome great blocks, but he did sail close to wind with ref , who with the linesman were a nice change to some of the terrible officials we have had recently, we barely noticed the officials, which is a sign of them being good , last word for ashley who had a terrrific game UTA...

Looking forward to Newcastle, it will be more like a competitive friendly, nothing to lose.

Newcastle have got relegation to worry about and it will be a great opportunity for the Gulls to relax and enjoy the Amex, good time for Vicente to stretch his legs.

Then bring on the Rams........

Newcastle v Everton Live on Sky Sports 1 HD at 8pm tomorrow. Could be interesting. Hope Everton give them a good workout.

sussexram40, you've got a tough game with Tranmere Rovers before you come to the Amex. They are storming League one at the moment and are on good form. Good luck anyway.

Hi Ballantrae, Four attempts on target against a poor team doesn't say a great deal for us really. Good to win of course and strangely enough I have noticed a higher degree of "away' wins throughout the Leagues this season so maybe counter attacks are more effective than all out attacks. Ours is a strange league this season with apparently anyone capable of beating anybody else on their day. We're hanging on to the fringe of the play-offs without scoring many goals so if we can find a prolific goalscorer we could still make it into the top 6. We've made it difficult however with so many dropped points and there really is no room for mistakes now. I hope we get this experienced target man we've been promised because I cant see the present line-up being good enough. The team that won today is no different to the one that has failed against other teams. Good enough for Ipswich but not against the others above and around us.

I hear that Barnes had a good game today,and he was interviewed after the game, I was expecting him to say he was looking forward to getting three points from Newcastle this weekend !

The midfield was really buzzing today, with much more urgency than of late. We should have actually been 4 goals clear at the break, with El-Abd being unlucky, as well as an Ipswich defensive mix-up that was worse than you'll see at Sunday league matches. Mick McCarthy's animations showed just what his side were going through, because he was not happy at all.
Barnes and Orlandi linked up well, Hammond was giving great support through the centre, and Dicker was outstanding when he came on in the second half.
All in all, a great result for us, but we have have to keep this going now, and build on the commitment for the Derby game.

Vegas, the rules on overseas players are a little confusing,if a player coming from outside the EC has played 75% of his home nations international matches over the past two years he would have no problem as that would qualify him to ply his trade in the UK but an EC citizen does not have to fulfill this criteria as he has a lawful right to ply his trade anywhere within the EC, now if a player has worked and lived within Spain for more than five years he would be able to apply for a Spanish passport (dual nationality) then he would in theory be allowed to ply his trade throughout the EC,apparently the player in question has lived in Spain for 4 years 8 months if my information is correct so almost there,I hope this is right if not I am sure someone out there will put me right.hope this helps.

So due to the fact that he is some four months short of what is needed, I guess he won't be signing.

I agree 100% let's get some momentum going,it just shows if we move the ball quicker in attack with less passing backwards we are a formidable team.
Bridcutt had another great game unlucky on goal one touch to many.
I notice a posting saying we played a poor team last two games beat wolves & charlton away charlton put four past Watford three more than us Ipswich where on the move until today
