Poyet praises duo (From The Argus)

No suprise at Gus lavishing praise on AB, he's his favourite. Fair dues to the boy though, he did well as did all the team. I wonder where it leaves Ash when the new forward arrives?

It's about bloody time he's performed. Not been impressed by him all season so far!! Admittedly he has been playing out of position, soon as he stop fallen on his arse and stops whinging at every decision that goes against him, the better the player he will become. I HOPE!!

Credit where credit's due, Barnes isn't my favourite but well done to him. Lopez for me is cover at full back and a good dead ball striker, but his midfield open play is suspect, lacks pace and strength. Would like to see another midfield player coming in with our Argentine 5'10- 6'2 striker.

Does anyone know where we can watch the highlights of the game?
normally I'll watch it on either The Football League show or on SkySports News, but the FLS wasn't on and Sky doesn't have it on there.

Any other ideas?

What's impressing me most about our potential new striker Ulloa is the fact, as you so succinctly point out Alfie T, that he can vary his height between 5ft 10 and 6ft 2. This is going to be invaluable for Poyet since rather than rotating strikers he just gets Ulloa to adjust his height !
I have to add that one can hear the chants now 'Ulloa... Ulloa ... and so on with all sorts of variations.
Reverting to the thread, it looks as if David is better suited to a deeper role than Poyet has played him most of the time. Both of his best performances have come when he's played RB.
I also wonder if Barnes might be better suited to playing on the right. I seem to remember him providing 2 or 3 assists from the right last season, one for CMS against Leeds at the Amex stands out which sparked our come back.
I wasn't entirely surprised that Barnes played well against Ipswich since I have felt he has been 'holding himself back' after receiving a 4th caution in the first Watford game in September. Having successfully got through the second Watford game without any caution he now has a clean slate again and I suspect is less inhibited as a result.

Good to see the smiling faces, the team are in it together, all looked happy, and it didn't give the impression that anyone is wanting to go to another club soon.Which is a very good thing in my eyes.

Can you imagine what it would be like on here if we won two in a row ;o)

It is very noticable that some of the ultra negative posters have tempered their usuall rants, and for that I am pleased.

I am glad that Barnes had a good game but I do wonder if he will prove to be the loser when the front line shake up is completed. I suppose if a decent offer came in for him Gus would say yes, but again I wonder, do you think Gus would rather sell Hoskins and keep Barnes?

This might sound odd but I think now that we have got thru the first 48 hours without a bid for CMS, I think he will now stay.
Norwich were always the most likely candidate to come for him, but now they have turned their attentions elsewhere, CMS might not like that. Right now CMS plays every week, I doubt he would want to be a bit part player at Norwich and a delay in signing him whilst they try for others might suggest that's what he would be.

No early offers tabled for Bridcutt or Buckley, again to me that is somewhat of a surprise. Do you think that a swap deal plus cash might be being hammered out for one or both. In my mind those that really want to sign a player act quickly, but we have heard zip.

I am now getting more optimistic about our chances of keeping all of our stars, and I wasn't last week.
I know it's still early, anything may happen but as each hour passes I think it bodes well for us.

Would appear difficult for Forster-Caskey to be involved at the moment. Has been barely used by Oxford United in the last month - invariably an unused substitute. Does not bode well for his prospects at Brighton in the near future.

What a player thats been a un-used sub most weeks at league two Oxford.If Arsenal can find young Charlie Gilmour 13 a Hove Park schoolboy.Im sure MUFC,Chelsea,Spurs,a
nd Arsenal would know about your nightclub super kid by now,and move in & sign him.Barry went before even playing a game,and Grant Hall much the same.All the lads Barker,Rodgers,Oatwa
y Jr,Dickenson,and JFC play because their parents know the right people.If they was that good they would not be at the Albion now.

Mug lol.They played better because they was told to stay off the drink after the Watford game.They was not even allowed out from the hotel new years eve.But i would put my money on the fact it had more to do with the amount of top scouts that were at the game.Footballers play for contracts you sad little man.

I think the problem for JF-C at Oxford was that he was in direct competition with Leven in midfield. When he went there Leven was out injured and so JF-C got a lot of game time but Leven has been back for the last 6 - 8 weeks and scoring goals so JF-C's chances have been limited to coming off the bench towards the end of games.
