Plus plenty of big quick players will be good to see how slow albions defence is against them just that BA would have been the icing on the cake and we will be able to see how far we are OFF from the prem.

Agree with (m.g) If we see him at all it will be a shock to the system.G.P. has gone very quiet on Vncente. Maybe we might see him 2nd half for a cameo spot.Any news on this new striker and the passport saga?

Not sure you will get much flack until Vicente's played 5 or 6 other matches and I don't mean at the end of the season..
He obviously has to play against Newcastle first even if it's only for 10 minutes.

Yeah, VERY quiet on Vicente. I mean, has hasn't mentioned him since the other story on the Argus this morning! Sheesh...

Whether Ba is playing or not, I can't see us getting a result. I won't be losing sleep over it though. I'm only interested in one thing - the Championship. I want the lads 110% focussed on the Derby gam. The crucial thing is that we stop the Amex rot and start winning at home. Realistically we've got to win 80% of the remaining home league games and average 50% of the remaining away games. Weirdly, I'm confident we will win 1 in 2 of the aways. It's the home form that's my big worry and that I fear will ultimately see us finishing 4 or 5 points short of the all important 6th place.

as for vincente why? was a great player still is if fit and playing for the team he wants to play for!
total waste of money so far this season which could have gone towards a player that could have played.

I guess I am going to be the odd one out with my post, at least for the time being that is.

I think beating Newcastle would be a huge boost toward the match with Derby.
Can you imagine the buzz the players would have going into that match if we dispatch Newcastle. Consider also what the Derby players would be thinking too.

Even if we can't progress in the cup I feel it will be very important to give a good account of ourselves. We must approach the Derby game with confidence, some of which was gained by beating Ipswich. A good showing against a prem side would increase that confidence. If we get a slapping that can only help Derby.

Vicente, yes I would like to see him play the last 15 minutes or so, Gus would not even put him on the bench if he was not physicaly fit and if he takes to the field, even if only for 15 minutes, then that bodes well for the coming months.

We all have our opinions on Vicente, mine have gone up and down and in every other direction, but at the end of the day surely we are better for having him fit and playing than we are without him.

Saw Newcastle last night. Dont focus on Our defence, focus on there's. they're poor and there's a chance. In attack, they have no movement which will help us, but that said I think we'll get outmuscled by better athletes and lose.
And frankly, I don't much care. It's all about the play offs

Funnily enough, the NUFC fans are saynig much the same thing - looks like neither team will get a result this weekend.

Your win ratios give us 8 more home wins and 5-6 away wins, giving us at least 39 more points (assuming no draws) leading to a final total of 76 points. That will do nicely, although we'll get some draws so that many wins will be unnecessary.

BTW, is it no longer okay to focus just 100%? I'd love to know who (on TV I presume) coined this 110% nonsense.

Well I hope he has got his man and I also hope that this guy is the first, and not the only player to arrive.

I continue to say that we need two new front men and we obviously could do with an extra defender.

If none of our first choice 18 players go two new strikers would give us flexibility, a new defender would shore up the defense with the current crop of injuries.

It would be foolish to think that we can reach the end of the season without more injuries, we have the midfield cover but we are short at the front and back.

If and when we can get Vicente back on the park he will give us that spark which has been lacking in midfield, maybe one less pass and one more thru ball.

I guess we will have to be very careful in the tackles, we don't need to give away freekicks in dangerous areas.
I don't think we can play the offside trap and even if we could, are our defenders quick enough when the ball is lofted over the top of the back four.

Newcastle may not be at the best right now but they will be quick and capable. The longer we allow them on the ball the more dangerous they will be, I don't think Gus will allow them to settle on the ball.

My guess is that we will play the pressing game, we will close them down as quickly as possible and press high up the field. If I am right it would make sense to play a sweeper, as I said, our defenders are not that quick across the ground.

If Cauldi is not fit then David will probabaly resume where he left off last week, that could also mean that Barnes starts, by all accounts they linked up well together.

I am thinking that Kaz will start and it would not surprise me to see Dobbie given the nod. CMS or Hoskins, well I think he will start the pair. Both Kaz and CMS can get back quickly to help out in defense, Dobbie would then remain high up with Hoskins not too far away, the pair looking for the counter attack option.

We might see Greer playing the sweeper role. Bridge, David and Dunk, (Bruno if fit for Dunk) with Bridcutt dropping slightly deeper when needed.

Hammond and Crofts (Orlandi if fit for Crofts).

Great news re Buckley. Argus a bit slow.

I can't see why we can't beat Newcastle again. Last year they had visions of the Champions League and this year they've got premier league survival and europa league on their minds. Will be interesting to see if Gus does go with 2 up front for the game as the last thing we want is a replay.

I think we could have a good run this month given the fixtures.

I said it before, Vicente never wanted to return and when we forced him to he resolved to get hid own back by feigning injury. He couldn't jst refuse to play buy if he insists that he is injured they have to go along with it or suffer being sued. He wins either way. We invested a lot in him & I feel really betrayed as do others I'm sure.
